Civic Education and Participation

There is an urgent need for a civic education program built around four key objectives — information, education, mobilization and advocacy to ensure the diaspora community understands their new rights and obligations and the enormous opportunity they now have to participate in shaping Haiti’s destiny. . We will work in partnership with organizations in the diaspora and in Haiti around the following goals:

  1. Work for the full integration and inclusion of Haitians living abroad (HLA) in the life of Haiti (from right to vote to representation in Parliament).
  2. Propose programs and policies that promote and protect the interests of HLAs.
  3. Propose programs and policies to help channel the resources of HLAs to support Haiti’s national production.

It is our belief that any program that promote civic responsibility must be accompanied with real tangible opportunity for the citizen to actively participate in and provide benefits to country.  It is in this in mind that we developed the Community and Partnerships for Collective Response (CPCR) program.
