Community and partnerships for Collective Response

Haiti is exposed to hurricane, tropical storms, earthquakes and severe environmental degradation.  Additionally, given the weakness of the state and its ability to respond to the population's basic needs, Konbit has created the Collective Response program, which is based on the principle of collective work and responsibility to respond to the inevitable crises.  We have integrated the South Korean's Saemaul Undong model to engage local communities in all aspect of a project toward their own development.

This program is about OUR collective response to crises but also collective planning and actions for development.  Through the Collective Response program, Kombit's members and partners work directly with impacted community to assess their immediate needs and identify resources (human and capital) to respond during the initial stage of a crisis.  However, our work is to seek solutions to tackle of root causes of poverty and exclusion and keeping with a focus on long-term solutions.  Our work one of solidarity and all projects are carried, not for but with the community.
